Connust Open app

Marketplace app for Pakistan

Connust is a marketplace app for buying and selling in Pakistan.

People use it to sell things they own and to buy from others nearby. Everyone confirms a phone number before they can list, bid or message, and one number belongs to one account. So before you contact a seller, you can see how they verified their identity, what they have sold, and what buyers said afterwards.

Free to list. Free to browse.

About the app

What Connust does

Connust is a free classifieds marketplace for Pakistan, published as a mobile app by Hope tech. Browsing is open to anyone. Listing, bidding and messaging need an account.

Sell something

Post a listing with photos, a description, a price and your city. Sell at a fixed price, or open it for bidding and pick which buyer to deal with when bidding closes. Listing is free.

Buy something

Search by category and city across vehicles, electronics, property, furniture, jobs and more. Save the listings you are interested in, then message the seller in the app to agree a price.

Deal with someone you can check

Every profile shows how that person verified their identity, their trust score, how many sales they have completed and the reviews buyers left. You decide who to deal with before you make contact.

Trust and safety

How Connust makes buying and selling safer

Connust does not hold your money or deliver your goods. What it does is make it harder for someone to lie about who they are, and easier for you to check before you commit.

Everyone verifies a phone number

An SMS code is required before an account can post a listing, place a bid or send a message, and one phone number belongs to one account. Somebody who is reported and suspended cannot open a fresh account and carry on where they left off.

Identity checks are done by a person

Sellers who want the ID Verified badge send a national identity card and a selfie. A member of staff compares them by hand rather than a script. The documents are encrypted while they are stored, they are never shown to other users, and you can ask for them to be deleted.

The trust score cannot be bought

It is calculated from verification, completed sales, buyer ratings, account age and reply rate. There is no way to pay for a higher one and no way to set your own. The breakdown is on every profile, so you can see which part is carrying the number.

Reviews come from real transactions

A buyer can review a seller once per deal. One argument cannot turn into a run of one-star ratings, and a seller cannot build a reputation out of accounts that never bought anything.

Anything can be reported

Any listing or account can be reported from inside the app. Reports reach a moderator, who can take a listing down or suspend the account behind it.

You stay in control of the deal

The buyer and the seller agree the price and the handover between themselves. That is worth knowing before you meet, so the safety advice is short and worth reading first.

Accounts

Signing in, and what we ask you for

You can browse listings without an account. You need one to post a listing, place a bid, save a listing or message a seller.

Creating an account

Sign up with an email address and a password, or sign in with your Google account. Either way you then confirm a phone number before you can list, bid or message.

Why we ask for a phone number

Every account confirms a phone number by SMS before it can list, bid or message, and a number can belong to only one account. This is the measure that does most to keep repeat offenders off the platform.

What happens to your details

Your phone number is never shown on your public profile or on your listings. Identity documents are encrypted, reviewed by a person and never published. The Privacy Policy sets out what is collected and why.

Google sign-in

What Google sign-in shares with Connust

Signing in with Google is optional. If you use it, Connust asks Google for the three basic sign-in scopes and nothing more.

Scope What Connust receives What it is used for
email Your email address Creating and identifying your Connust account, and sending you account emails such as a verification code or a password reset.
profile Your name and profile picture Your display name and avatar on your Connust profile, so buyers and sellers can see who they are dealing with.
openid A Google account identifier Recognising you as the same person next time you sign in, so you return to your existing account rather than a new one.

What Connust does not ask for

Connust does not request access to Gmail, Drive, Contacts, Calendar, Photos or any other Google service. The three scopes above are the only ones it asks for, and they are the standard set used to sign somebody in.

What happens to that data

Your name, email address and profile picture are used to run your account and to show who you are to the people you deal with. They are not sold, and they are not shared with other companies for advertising or any other purpose.

Withdrawing it

You can remove Connust's access at any time from your Google account permissions page, and you can ask us to delete your Connust account and its data by writing to [email protected]. The Privacy Policy sets out what is kept and for how long.

Verification

Badges are earned in three steps

A badge is only worth reading if it is hard to get. Here is exactly what each one takes.

Verified

Email and phone

The starting point. Everyone reaches this before they can use the marketplace at all.

  • Email confirmed with a code
  • Phone number confirmed by SMS
ID Verified

National ID and selfie

Optional, and reviewed by a person rather than a script. Documents are never shown publicly.

  • National ID uploaded
  • Selfie matched against it
  • Checked manually before approval
Trusted Seller

A record to back it up

The top badge. It cannot be applied for, only earned, and it can be lost.

  • Already ID verified
  • At least five completed sales
  • Average rating of 4.0 or better

Bidding

Sell at a fixed price, or let buyers bid

Some things have an obvious price. Others do not, and arguing over chat is a slow way to find one.

The seller opens bidding

They set a starting bid and a closing date when they post the listing.

Buyers place their bids

Everyone can see the current highest bid and how long is left.

Bidding closes on time

When the deadline passes, the listing stops taking bids and everyone involved is told.

The seller picks the buyer

The highest bid is not an automatic sale. The seller chooses who to deal with, then the two of you arrange it in chat.
